“Time flies when you’re having fun!” and, with 10 years under their belt already, Facebook has morphed into a multibillion dollar company and taken hold of over 1.5 billion users around the planet. But in case you haven’t heard, Facebook are making it increasingly harder for unpaid content to be seen. In an effort to drive paid advertising, Facebook organic views have been decreasing for some time. Improving your Facebook reach may seem a challenge, but like everything online, good content will prevail. Here are our 6 tips to increasing your reach on Facebook, without having to pay for advertising.
1. Create fantastic content
Having something of value to share – like blogs and photos – and creating an online persona can boost your reach. Compelling content which talks directly to your customers and fans is the ultimate goal. Be topical, but keep it succinct; lengthy Facebook content goes unread, so keep it brief and easily digestible.
2. Embed Your Posts
In all likelihood, your audience are using a range of social media platforms. So extend your Facebook reach by embedding posts in your blogs, allowing visitors to your site the ability to interact with your Facebook content without actually having to log onto Facebook.
3. Encourage Likes and Shares
In typical algorithm fashion, the more likes and comments your Facebook posts get, the higher up a newsfeed your post is bumped by Facebook. An easy way to get your message out there and build a network of fans, is to encourage your fans to like and share your content. But remember, you need to be producing good content that your audience will want to share.
4. Change notification settings
If you have already built up a good relationship with your fans, through sharing excellent content and not over-posting, you may be able to request they change their notification settings in order to receive updates from your fan pages. To change their settings they’ll need to hover over the Like image and click notifications. Every time you update your fan page a notification is then sent to your fans.
5. Start a dialogue
Probably the easiest way to boost your visibility is to kick off a dialogue by getting fans to respond to your questions and comments. Try posting a comment or a question from your fan page to get a conversation started and provide an incentive to increase commenting. Fans love to know you’re listening so remember to answer their questions and reply to their comments with a tag so they’re notified of your response.
6. Build Fan Page Relationships
Try sharing content from other fan pages and tagging other fan pages within your posts. The theory behind this is that they will likely return the favour and share your content. Remember, don’t just promote your own business as that’s only interesting to a point. Rather share content that your fans will enjoy, as they’re more likely to engage with your page if your content is interesting.
